Our Classroom
Behavior Expectations
One key to a successful start to our year is that students are aware and understand my expectations of them as students in my classroom. We spend several weeks practicing these expectations over and over and revisit them often throughout the year. I like to explain to my students that we are a family in our class and in order for our family to work together and have a successful year, we have rules that we all need to follow. We read several books on how to be a good classmate and have a class discussion on what we need to do for our class to be successful. I have listed below our general class rules that we will all be expected to follow:
We will listen and follow directions
We will be nice to others
We will use good manners
We will raise our hand to talk
We will take care of our things
We will do our best EVERY DAY!
In our classroom we will use the schoolwide adopted PBIS behavior expectations. Students will be given TORO tickets for displaying appropriate and positive behavior. Undesirable behavior will be addressed with a variety of interventions, which may include a reflection think sheet, time alone, or time in a buddy classroom. Major concerns will be addressed by communication via a note or email home to families.

Mrs. Naomi Arnold
My name is Naomi Arnold. I have been teaching since 2008, and I've been at Union Park since 2020. Before beginning my career in Elementary Education I taught preschool for three years. I graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies in December of 2005. I earned a Masters of Early Childhood Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University in December of 2009. I currently hold early childhood, gifted and English as a second language endorsements.
I am originally from CA and moved to AZ in 2007. Much of my family still lives in CA so I go visit often. I have been married to my husband (Jason) for almost since 2013! We have boy/girl twins (Makenzi and Ryder). All of us are looking forward to many more adventure as Toros! My family also consists of two cats (Simba and Nala) and chickens that hatched from an incubator in my classroom last year.
In my free time I love spending time with my family and friends. I love watching TV and movies (more than I should), reading when I can, playing games, doing puzzles, and supporting our AZ sports teams. I also enjoy listening to country music, drinking a Starbucks coffee, and shopping at Kohl's, Old Navy and Target.
I am so excited to continue my journey here at Union Park and the great adventure that is ahead! Once again, welcome to my class, I am thrilled to have you!
